Thanks for your comment. I totally agree as the first 3 pairs have to make sure they are in time and also &#039;leading&#039; by example, otherwise the rest of the crew will be out of time. 

There are many theories that people say to which combination is best. Though I believe that each crew will use their strengths and each crew will have different positions as each crew has different paddlers.

As you have mentioned, the weakest link will cost the team and the weakest link is crucial to the team as everyone plays a vital role in the crew.</description>

		<description>I do believe that the first 3 pairs have a critical job in controlling the stroke rate. They must be mentally strong, disciplined and in-sync to lead the rest.

Otherwise the first 3 pairs and the last 3 pairs should also be stronger than the middle 4 pairs because from personal experience the water offers the least amount of useful resistance there. Could be 2-4-4 instead of 3-4-3 though, depending on the boat. For sure, the paddlers in the middle suffer a bit of inefficiency.

All in all, your weakest link will still cost the team.</description>
